Penguicon 2026

 So... Penguicon 2026.

I've heard lots of claims that they pushed the woke out and moved closer to their roots.  But what's the reality?

One of the reasons we stopped going was the dearth of good panels.  According to the schedule, it looks like that's not the case with some panel that I'd like to go to in all slots.  So +1 here.

The "After Dark" is mostly gone.  +1

Still pretty heavy on the writer's panels, though.  0 because it doesn't impact me.

Eric S. Raymond is a GOH.  +1

GOH Ryan Rose uses pronouns.  -1  Woke trash.

There are some woke panels.    0 because it doesn't impact me.

But some of the "technical" panels are also woke.  -1

The other reasons we stopped going was the huge woke push.  "Gender neutral" bathrooms.  "After Dark" stuff that was let out into the rest of the Con (even though the rules prohibited it).

So, this looks promising.  I'm sure that Jay and Eric will post on X what they saw/heard/felt.

We can't go this year because

1. We had already made other plans.

2. We didn't have the vacation time.

3. I didn't know that Penguicon was trying to change so I didn't even know it was happening.

4. I want to see what other people say before we spend the time.

If they are actually trying to de-woke it, then wonderful and we will probably go next year.

If they are only giving lip service to get people to come so the Con doesn't collapse, then screw them.
